Debt Collector

Letters: Given either a first line or a set-up, write a letter appropriate to the situation.
Dear (you),
You borrowed $500 from me a year ago and promised to pay it back by the first of January. I haven't seen or heard from you since then. I may be old and hard of hearing but my memory is just fine. Where's my money?

-Aunt Edna
Respond to Aunt Edna with a note of your own.

We Have A Winner!!! 02/09/10
You were serious about wanting it back?! I went on a cruise and stocked up on beer. I mean, when was I ever going to be able to do either of those things, being out of work and all..
Winner: Pamela
Reason: I know a lot of people who operate that way.

Well, sweet aunt, see, I was laid off.
I still wanted to get that loan paid off.
I invested the dough.
Didn't work, though....
Aunt Edna, have you heard of Bernie Madoff?

My Dearest Aunt Edna,

It was so lovely to hear from you! I trust you are keeping well? How are all of your kittens doing? Tell Reginald he is still my favorite!

Judging by the content of your letter it appears we are suffering from an unfortunate misunderstanding. You see, when I said I would pay you back by January 1st, you must have heard me say 2010.

But what I actually said, and I know this is not your fault (maybe you should get your hearing aid checked again?), was that I would pay you in full by January 1st, 2020.

Rest assured that I am certainly on track to pay you back by the date I promised!

Your favorite nephew,

Marc

Dear Aunt Edna,
I had fully planned on paying you back on time, that was until my mother told me about what you did to poor Uncle Alfred. How could you have cheated on him like that when you had three kids at home? No wonder he is so grumpy all the time.
You will not be getting that $500 back from me. I donated it in Uncle Alfred's name to the Red Cross.
This will be the last you hear from me.
Sincerely,
Me

Edna,
Borrowed? Hardly. You cheated me out of the money. It was that gin game in Miami where you had an accomplice looking at my hand through a telescope. (Yeah, I saw Goldfinfger too)

I ain't paying.

Your Nephew

P.S. Have they found Uncle Fredd's body yet?
