Tattoo

So I Have This Friend: Give your best advice to this friend.
So I have this friend... Her name is TMC and she blogs over at Return to Rural. Recently, she's posted about the new tattoo she's having created on her back. If you were to have something tattooed on your body (let's imagine it's free, both in regards to cash and pain), what would it be and where?

We Have A Winner!!! 03/14/10
I'd tattoo eyeballs on my eyelids so I could sleep at my desk and no one would know!
Winner: Eternal Lizdom
Reason: Sounds very useful! Not to mention very painful.

I am thinking of having a giant R tattooed on my Right hand, just to remind me which one is which.

I used to remember because my bed was on the right of the room, but then I moved, and now I'm just lost. :-(

This amazing belly that my babies were in
Is permanently changed (even when I'm thin.)
Where my babies grew,
I'd like this tattoo:
"I'm proud of my beautiful, stretched-out skin."

Tattoo a haiku
Between my two shoulder blades
Like butterfly wings.

I have one Tattoo on my left shoulder of a dragon. It was easy to choose as dragons have been important in my life since I was a young girl listening to the stories my dad was reading me.

Now as a mother of two I want to celebrate my kids they have very graphic names Griffin and Holly. The problem being is I don't want a Christmas tattoo. I am really stuck as to what it should look like. I also have trouble about where to put it as although my right shoulder and the out side of my right hip are my current thoughts.

I know some day it will happen.

I've pictured it, a sunflower running up my spine, starting from the small of my back and ending just under the strap of my bra. The bloom would be a beautiful golden color and the stem and leaves would be a softer green. It would move with me, creating different looks as I moved through various dance poses, clearing off the table, or reaching for something on the top shelf. It would be easily covered in an office enviroment, but viewable with little trouble.

I'll never get it. But I love having the dream.

After the death of one of my students just two weeks after her fifth birthday, I knew that I had to somehow mark on the outside just how much her life had changed me on the inside. So on my right shoulder blade I have tattooed the hands of a child cupped releasing a butterfly into flight. It is done completely in shades of gray as if a pencil drawing and the hands are amazingly lifelike. To me, it is her physical release and a metaphor for what I did as a special education teacher - trying to help children be released from whatever restrictions they had so they could take flight.

"STAND UP! KEEP YOUR BACKS STRAIGHT! REMEMBER THAT THIS IS WHERE THE WINGS GROW."

I would have these words tattooed on my back. What a mantra to live by! Martha Graham used to say it to her dancers, and I saw it today on Quote Snack, and liked it so much I pasted it onto my Facebook Wall.
