Night Before Christmas

Take Two: Given a second chance, how would this be different? Rewrite the ending to a book, movie, scene, fable, quote, etc.
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
Rewrite the classic line. (Not the whole poem, though you're certainly welcome to if you're feeling inspired.)

Winner! Winner!!! 12/30/09
'Twas the week before Christmas
And I looked at my list

And realized how much
Of it I have dissed.

Food & gifts to be bought
A letter to complete

My to do list this weekend
Will be a small feat

But no fear over here
Because I have a plan

It will all be done
before Santa Claus lands.
Winner: Dellits
Reason: Such a great modern day update to the classic

Curtians covered the windows with care.
Making sure no one would be in a crosshair.

The tree was lit, and the songs were sang
Guys that lived the war were this Christmas gang

Taking turns to say their words about those far away.
Smiling, laughing, wishing well for those we pray.

There was only one present under this tree.
It was happiness for those that were free.

Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the senate
health care obstructionists
bent it back as far as they could bend it

There were grinches and snow monsters
with malice to burn
Even Joe Lieberman
cried, "Hey, It's my turn!"

But when it was over
sixty votes did the trick
now health care can be delivered
by Ol' Saint Nick.

Merry Christmas to all!

'Twas the night before Christmas, and I sat with you,
Falling in love over hot rabbit stew.

Twas the night before Christmas, the child and I,
Sat at the window staring up at the sky
His six year old face was as bright as the snow
As he waited for sleep in the firesides glow.

Night before Christmas
Just isn't quite as much fun
Written in Haiku.

Twas the night before Christmas and tumbling away
Was the unlucky elf who was thrown from the sleigh.
