The common cold, influenza, swine flu-- She's got 'em all, so what does she do? She wipes off her snot On the gift that she bought As she wraps it, then gives it to you.
I was surprised to recieve a package for me That had been wrapped by the afore mentioned she. But the stuff on the bows Felt like it came from a nose Thus spoiling all of my glee.
A limerick-off for some might inspire And would require two writers to be on fire. But I'm afraid I concede To a prize I don't need For it's C. Beth that we all admire.
Of limerick-offs you're not a fan? We can do something else--yes, we can! A book by us two-- Rhymes by me and by you-- It's our big, million-dollar plan!
A book by us two that reads strictly in rhyme? I'd be willing to talk if you have the time. But since our fans are but few Is it worth to pursue? When all we would make is a dime.
This poetic battle has been hard fought It's challenged my mind and a smile it's brought. But all things must end My dear rhyming friend And to think this all started with snot.

We're gonna need to have a limerick-off! No, I don't care that it isn't a word.

My fans are many--many, I say!
ReplyDeleteSurely you don't doubt it--nay, nay!
But despite my plans
My imaginary fans
Have imaginary money to pay....
This poetic battle has been hard fought
ReplyDeleteIt's challenged my mind and a smile it's brought.

My dear rhyming friend

Wow. I say you both win the limerick-off. That was truly a sight to behold. I'm just not sure if I'm amazed or terrified. :P
ReplyDeleteI think calling it a draw is a very good idea. Well-played, Mike. :)
ReplyDeleteBeth, that was fun. Let's do it again sometime.
ReplyDeleteNo limerick here
ReplyDeleteBut I wrapped this gift myself...
I need the box back.
